Will my car insurance go up?…It was not my fault!?
Okay here is the deal…
I just got a 2007 Pontiac G6 about a week and ahalf ago. This sunday I was getting ready to go to the store when I jumped in to my car I notice my two side mirrors were missing. Now why would any one steal that?????
My car has leather seat, a system, in other words, everythging!
Why the side mirrors.
Anyways I filed a police report, but I’m not sure if I want my insuance comp. to pay for it because I think it might go up. Maybe not right away but later on, or next year. I have Fred Loyal Full Cover.
What do you think?

I think if you cannot find the suspect and you claim for it, I guess you will need to pay for it through your insurance policy and that would end up raising your price of your half-year bill

If you have collision coverage you also probably have at least a $500 deductible, and I doubt two mirrors would be over $500 so you would be paying for it anyway. I wouldn’t bother to report it.

Someone needed side mirrors. Don’t they have to open the doors to remove the side mirrors? Weird.
Anyway, price two new mirrors at the dealership first, see if the cost would exceed your insurance deductible and decide if you want to risk the increase in insurance you may incur through this incident.

First off, good work filing a police report. That will really help you when you go to file a claim.
Secondly, this will be a Comprehensive claim. Most companies will not raise your premiums for comp. claims. Like you said, it’s not your fault. Why should your rate go up?
As someone else mentioned, you will have a deductible. If your’s is $1,000 or higher, you probably won’t get any money. So check to see what your Comprehensive ded. is set at.
Either way, you should file the claim, like I said your rate is not going to go up.

any claim that you file will effect your policy. there is no way of taking it off once you have filed it. as far as your rates going up it depends on your history with your insurance company. if you have no prior claim or maybe one or two dont worry about it.
get an estimate of the cost to fix your car and replace your mirrors. if the cost is under your deductible you are better off paying out of pocket because your insurance company will only pay the amount over your deductible.
good luck

Get an estimate on replacement cost. Something to consider is if the cost to repair is not much more than your deductable it is sometimes better to just pay out of pocket than make the claim
Talk to your insurance agent. If you haven’t made any other claims it shouldn’t go up.
