We are looking for a car and have found a 2000 Lexus GS for ,000. It has all kinds of features including a sunroof, leather interior, cassette player, cd player, radio, seat heaters, etc. It is in excellent condition and the owner gets it detailed annually as well as regular oil changes.

The only thing that bothers me is the high mileage and that it gets about 15-16 mpg city. I will only be driving it in town so I have no idea. Is this a good idea to buy this vehicle? How long do you think it will last? How much do you think it will cost me in the long run?

I am looking to buy a new car and have narrowed it down to specific cars. I just want your opinions on what you think! Both are around the same price OTD and have a clean title. I am a college student, only working part time, so I won’t be able to afford anything more extravagant than what I have listed below.

1. Mazda Mazda 3 Sedan
Color: Blue
Year: 2005
Miles: about 60k
Interior: Black Leather (no seat heaters)
This is the touring edition with the 2.3 engine, larger rims, pretty new tires, 6 disc in dash CD player, fog lights, leather wrapped steering wheel.
I love the inside of this car, I also like the larger engine (I drive quite a few huge hills every day on my commute) I am not a huge fan of driving a bright blue car but the color is growing on me, and it seems like EVERY girl drives a Mazda 3, I don’t want to be just another girl in a Mazda. I am also worried about the age of the car.

2. Nissan Versa S Hatchback
Color: White
Year: 2009
Miles: about 20k
Interior: Beige Microfiber
This is pretty much the base model with the exception of the 1.8 engine and CD player. Tires with hubcaps, no center console/armrest. I LOVE the way this car looks on the outside, it’s different and unusual and really cute! I also like that it is a newer car and has a factory warranty on it. The one thing I would change is that it’s lacking storage space. I also would buy new rims and tint the windows.

What are your thoughts? Mostly the year is making me hesitant on the Mazda, and the lack of storage is making me hesitant on the Versa.

I spent the weekend working on my truck, new temp and ammeter, installed my cd player, buckets seats on custom built mount, changed the oil and replaced a u-joint. after i was all done, my dad and i ran into town, on the way in, we noticed the temp gauge was not coming up, i had tested it in the garage and it worked fine. we thought this was rather odd, the heater has always worked really well in this truck. my dad suggested i slowed down and ran in 2nd gear for awhile and work the engine ( 4-speed). i down shifted to 3rd and slowed down and then went for 2nd, i was apparently going a lil faster then i thought and barked the tires and over revved the engine, i quickly clutched and popped it back into 3rd, with in the few seconds, the truck died. i tried to restart it both with the starter and by bump starting it. we ended up dragging the truck home and did the following:
replaced ignition module with known good-no start

checked coil ( 2 plug, 4 wire) and found continuity between all 4 pins (is this right?)

checked ammeter wiring ( i tapped into the lead off the battery up to the distribution block on the fire wall) found the connector i had installed at the distribution block was loose, but i still had full cab power.

i retrieved trouble codes manually ( i messed up the first time and jumped the top 2 pins on the left, i corrected myself and only got code 12 i left it run for some time to make sure. this bothers me as i have owned this truck for a year now and it has always had a check engine light on. it would go off and come on all the time, i ignored it because the truck ran fine.

it has no spark, the fuel pump runs, we did not crack a line to check for pressure, but i replaced the pump last spring. however we never see fuel spray while cranking, should we?

we also noticed the AIC was noisy and seems to run constantly until you try to start. this seems odds. i don;t know a lot about the tbi system i am learning as i go. i prefer points or HEI, i need help on this, this is my "good" truck, for now i have to drive smokey, the oil belching and spewing 74′ with the leaking rear pinon, please help.

Details about the car are below. We have priced the car at 0. The Blue Book private party price is 5 and Edmunds private party price is 7. We’ve had 5 responses – one person stood us up. We have responded to 3 people and have had no communication after that. I’m waiting for an email from one person who found our ad on Craigslist. Is our price too high for a car in this condition?

Bad things:
*Leaks coolant
*Leaks transmission fluid
*AC doesn’t work properly – likely needs freon
*Heater doesn’t work
*Small dents on right side of car and on hood
*Paint scraped off on rear bumper – my aunt accidentally bumped the back with her car
*Right side door creaks as it opens – door works fine, though
*Headliner is hanging slightly – doesn’t affect driving or anything
*Back driver’s side window doesn’t close fully, needs a new clip

I am planning on getting a pioneer priemer DEH-P690UB cd player. for the head unit or getting a kenwood KDC-MP735U cd player. As for the speakers I am planning on getting two 6.5 pioneer priemer TS-A642P’s 280 watts and for the rear 6×9 pioneer TS-A6992R’s 460 watts. I am planning on making a custom box that would fit two 12" subwoofers in the very back of the trunk right behind the back seat facing the back seat and putting plexi glass to cover it up. I am planning on getting infinity kappa’s. and I was goin to get two amps to support the power dont know what kind yet. Will this set up work or will I need an extra amp or something to hook it all up. Any advice will be greatly appreciated on this set up. and if you think I sould change anything please tell me.

1990 Nissan Maxima, the car is in great driving condition and runs well with no problems.

Sorry the 00 was with the truck in good, not excellent condition. As I have been looking around I have seen other websites such as edmunds.com and caranddriver.com price the car between 00 and 00. I think that is extremely overpriced for the truck too. I am just looking to see what people would offer so I can estimate what I would get out of it. I am in no rush to sell the car, just if the right price came along from someone around town, I would sell it.
