1995 318i BMW parts/installation?

My parents recently bought me a 1995 318i BMW. I like it but the dash area where the radio is and between the driver/passenger seats (where the parking break/shifter is) looks really dated. I was wondering if I could replace those parts to look like the ones on newer models- as the exterior/seats/carpet are in fantastic shape. In addition, the area behind the steering wheel (I know I sound dumb- I don’t know the names!) that shows your speed/gas etc… can that also be replaced? And lastly I know I can get the white light bulbs for my headlights… but can I get new covers over the bulbs to give the car a newer look? Thanks for any info!
Also if you know or can approximate the price of each of these things plus how much it will cost to be installed:

1. Dash / between seats area
2. Behind the wheel
3. White lights/ new light covers

*sorry for any typos! I’m writing this on my phone. Thanks again for any info!

"She" could use: new back bumper, seat belts dyed, and has perfect blue leather seat with no tears w/ black seat cover.
Has: Spray in bed liner, carpet removed- spray in bed liner floor, new dash, paint job 3 years old.

Great 2WD truck with a 350. She is mostly for looks.
Just the body and paint job is worth that Mr.Blue..maybe you should look into autobody a little more.
Maybe not the best picture- The body is in PERFECT condition. My Dad owns a body shop and ALL was restored. She’s got a little dirt on her BC we lived on a dirt road. It washes off. lol
I will upload pictures of the interior when I can

How to Select the Best Carpet for Your Car?

How to Select the Best Carpet for Your Car?

All of us agree that nothing can be more disgusting in a car than dirty carpet emanating a foul odor. If you have spilled some beverage or motor oil or any other liquid on your vehicle’s carpet, you might as well replace the whole carpet instead of trying to clean it.  Actually many people find it cost-effective to replace their car carpet, instead of trying to clean the dirt or remove smell from a soiled auto carpet.

You can select a car carpet custom molded to fit the form and pattern of your car’s floor pan. So, there is no need to buy a flat automotive carpet and struggle to fit it to the bumps and ridges of your car’s floor. Buying custom-built car carpet will make the job much easier and will also fit in perfectly. Sometimes, if you have a newer model of vehicle, you can still buy carpet from the manufacturer, but in most cases the original OEM auto carpet will be 4 or 5 times more expensive than replacement carpet, and the quality of the carpet fibers may also be of inferior quality.

It is important to know that there are two types of automobile carpet backing. Most new cars have a type of padding called Massback. It is black, heavy foam-like and this backing is added to improve heat and sound insulation.  Whereas most aftermarket car carpets are made with a thin, plastic backing that does little by way of padding or heat/sound insulation.

An important choice you will have to make is the grade of carpet to buy? The choice you make might understandably depend on how much money you wish to spend.  Price verses durability is the key factor to consider to ensuring you buy the right car carpet. Generally, carpet is graded by the materials used, the fiber type, the fiber weight, the tuft twist and how well it is constructed   with regard to three basic things – fiber, density and twist. Carpets can be made from many different fibers. You have five basic synthetic fibers to choose from: nylon, polypropylene, polyester, polyester made from recycled materials, Blend (a combination of two fibers).

The main problem is many carpet salespeople will not help you make the right fiber choices. They either do not have sufficient knowledge, or just don not bother what fiber you select. Density is how thick the carpet is. Generally, the thicker the better, but the pile height also plays a role in how long the carpet will look like new and how easy it is to clean and vacuum. Better quality carpets have a density rating of 2000 or more. In carpets, fibers are grouped together and twisted to form tufts. The amount of twist each tuft has is important. Some carpets have a tighter twist which makes the carpet more durable and look like new longer.

Make sure to pull the new auto carpet right out of the box as soon as it arrives, since it has a tendency to roll up and get crammed otherwise. The auto carpet will need about 24-48 hours to relax and regain its shape. Sometimes, letting it sit in a warm room, or direct sunlight will help speed up this process.

As regards the color of car carpets, you can choose the color according to your requirement, and there is no price variation. What is more, if you want to add your logo on the seat cushion/mat or change its dimension, the dealers will be able to comply with your request.

Dodge Dart Restoration?

I have a 1968 Dodge Dart Slant-Six. It was originally a Monotone Yellow Hardtop Coupe. I am thinking about restoring it since I have over 90% of the parts. It has very little surface rust and the trunk is solid. Any tips on what I should do. I think this is a very unique car for a slant-six. The interior will be the most work. I found a website and I calculated it would cost about 00 to get all the materials I need to restore the interior (carpet, headliner, bench seat covers, bench seat foam, back bench seat covers, vinyl top, mats, door panels, and a dash pad). What would be the worth after I restore it to 95-100% originality? I checked NADA and they said if it’s perfect it should be around ,500. The link has a photos and information on my car. I know Dodge Man will see this so I was wondering if you were on this site and if you could post your cars on here :D Thank you.

I was thinking later on in life, maybe I will throw in an upgraded 360 with a manual transmission (either a 833 or a tko-500/600), a dana 360 and maybe some cragar rims. So far I haven’t found any good suspension kits.

Any advice would be appreciated. I am just a college student trying to learn how to work on mopars.
Yeah, I just sold my other Dodge Dart this week and half the interior in it was great half was ok, but the body wasn’t too straight, the paint was terrible, it had all the holes where the trim was suppose to go (it had no trim), and the engine (273) wasn’t working properly. He basically wanted it for the bucket seats. But I got 00 for it when I spent 00 for both. I know I can sell this one for at least 00

Trying to make my car look better. Inside/Out?

I have an old car that my Father is letting my have and I’m trying to figure out how to make it look better. It’s a 95′ green Saturn, with greyish carpet interior. Well actually it was my great grandmother’s (oh joy.) I’m just happy I have a car.

Any ideas of how to make it look nicer. Would seat covers help? What about car wax?

My floorboards in front and back are soaked. I have a 98 Ford Escort.?

My carpet is soaked in front and back. The seats are dry. Windows and doors were shut when it rained. I do have heat. I had to add coolant today as it was low. My radio speakers were all static yesterday and now today nothing. Radio dont work. It lights up but no sound. It has 4 speakers and none work. Is this a bad heater core or what? Everyone i know that works on cars are puzzled. Can you help?

Dog whines when going for rides in my truck, How do I fix?

So me and my wife have a 2 years old Min Pin we adopted from an rescued animal shelter. We have had her for over a year, and it’s been hard training but things are working out.

The one problem I’m stumped in fixing is when we drive anywhere and take our dog with us (she has separation anxeity from an abusive last owner locking her in a closet for 8 to 12 hours a day), she whines through out the trip.

To remedy this I tried the following.

1) I thought maybe she was uncomfortable in the back seat cab of the truck. So I built a custom car crate for my dog to be secure and comfy. Basically I extended the center arm rest. Lined the outside with factor Carpet, the inside is memory foam covered in velvet, leather head rest, blanket and leather trim. It’s basically a elevated box that the dog fits into and can see the road too.

Didn’t whine at first couple of weeks, then she started whining again.

2) Thought maybe the Muffler was too load, so I swapped out my Flowmaster 50 series with a ultra silent muffler and sound proofed the interor.

STILL FREAKING WHINES.

3) Thought maybe she just wants attention. I lean my seat back the entire 45 minute drive (when I’m in the passenger seat and play with the dog.

STILL WHINES!!!

Now I’m Ticked! I have had other dogs in my truck with no problem and I’m at a loss to figure out what her problem is. I trying telling her "NO!" when she starts to whine. That doesn’t do crap. I have tried treats. No go!

If you are wondering why don’t I leave her at home. It’s mostly her separation anxeity. I have worked her up to 4 hours before she freaks out. I have webcams setup at home to monitor when I’m away and check up on her.

The only time we travel is stay with the in laws or go the store and it will be longer than 4 hours.

She has peed and pooped before going on any trip, and get a treat at the end of the trip just to make it seem like trips aren’t a bad thing.

I’m just frustrated..Any thoughts?
NO EAR PLUGS..though I have put in a powerful speaker system (and I feel guilty about this) do crank up the music lately to drown out the whining. But I don’t want to rely on that.

My Min Pin is generally a very laid back and quiet dog, except around strangers where she goes ballsitic. That’s why I’m confused. Everything is familiar and its really out of her character.
Funny thing is when I tell my dog "TRUCK" she is all fired up and happy…then after 10 minutes of driving. the Whining starts.
I have tried ignoring her for the entire trip and saying "bad girl" when she starts to whine" Does nothing to solve it.

For me, driving in my truck and listening to music is a very relaxing activity for me, and with the dog in the truck, it’s like scratching on a chalkboard. It’s a soft whine, and when the music goes soft..you can hear her.
WAIT..WHATS THIS TRAVEL DROPS you guys keep mentioning? I’ll buy a case load at this point!
