Some one hit me (not my fault) and they have insurance but i don’t. What does this mean for me?
I was in my school parking lot and i was on the outer edge and trying to get out. A car on the side of me (facing toward me) decides to try to go out the other way. The road wasn’t big enough but it was too late and they had hit me pretty badly. My car needs a new back door and the front door needs to be fixed as well. A lot of small things have to be touched up afterwards because it is a BMW. The police were involved and the other driver had a full car who saw it all and my friend was in the passenger seat and saw it coming. When the cop came i gave them my license, my registration, and an expired insurance card and said my new one at home (so original) But the thing is, is that i do not have insurance, but the other drive does, its AAA insurance. So two questions here. Is it a bad idea to give them the fake insurance [(not even to my bmw but to my moms mini van) the cop did notice it wasn't to my car] And will her insuarnce cover my vehicle? give me some advise please ![]()

No, her insurance won’t cover your car. If you are found at fault, you will have to pay out of pocket for repairs to both cars.
If you are not found at fault, you will be compensated. When the police report is ready, read it, if you aren’t at fault make a claim with the other person’s insurance company.
If you are, prepare to pay.

you did not have insurance in the eyes of the insurance company that makes you at fault because you should not have been in that parking lot because you did not have insurance
if you were not in that parking lot the other driver would not have damage to there vechicle
so no you wont recieve a cent and you will probally have to pay for the damage to the other drivers vechical
and you may be facing hefty fines for no insurance
the good news is that they wont impound your car(they cant let you drive a vechical with no insurance on top of that it is not in your name).
the car not being in your name caries the same senario even if it was insured if you were not on the policy and damage falls upon you
just be happy no one was hurt because that may encourage a lawsuit
I sudgest that you talk with a attornie and see what your options are
goodluck

You don’t need insurance to be covered by anothers insurance. BUT………please don’t drive without insurance…EVER! And don’t lie to a cop EVER!
The guy above me here is wrong on a couple of things. Some states do not require insurance (Wisconsin is one and there are others) Don’t let him scare you more than you already are. You said you are not at fault. Who said you were not at fault ? The cops ? Good. If you ARE at fault, however, you are responsible to pay for repairs to both vehicles
