My husband is a environmental scientist and certified industrial hygienist and I doubt it has occurred to him either! Thanks for posting that. It's a good thought. But we do sometimes get freezing rain. We just let our car air out and take out the mats and air dry them once or twice a week when needed. But that is something to think about if you live up North where it snows. Keeping the heater off is not really a plausible option given the freezing temperatures though (I've lived in Alaska and Kansas, so I know cold and I know heaters are a must).
