Is this a good car?
1990 Nissan Maxima, the car is in great driving condition and runs well with no problems.
Features:
• 4 door, automatic, sunroof, keyless entry, power widows, power locks,
power seats.
• Air conditioner/heater work very well.
• Excellent sound system: "Bose" speakers in the front and rear, loud and
crisp, Cd player w/ radio.
• All new tires, front and rear tires are only 2 months old.
• New radiator installed 1 week ago.
• Fresh Oil Change: 5/16/07
The interior is very clean and in good condition. The exterior looks good; it does have a little wear and tear, with a few scratches and very minor dents.
There are 193,000 miles, this car has a solid history of having no major mechanical problems and all mechanic work in the past 5 years (very little) that I have owned the car has been documented with original receipts. It has always been a very dependable car. Price: 00
Its in my city and I can afford it and it looks nice, but is that to many miles?

It is a lot. Maybe you should look for car that hasn’t be used for space travel.

For that many miles it should be under $1000. You’re getting ripped off if you buy that.

That is a LOT of miles. Jeez.
Those are gret cars and they’ll run forever but not much more than 200K without a rebuilt engine.
If you have around 2K only to spend you may not do much better. I would opt for a car with body damage that is newer if you don’t care too much.

Get a car fax report! Then check it out with a person who knows cars if you dont. Check kelly blue book for the price you can go to kellybluebook.com that will tell you if that is a desent price for that many miles. Also remember that a car with that many miles may start to have problesm that are beyond fixable.
My suggestion keep looking, you can find newer models with lower millage for around the same price

A bit high on price. I would think $1500 is more reasonable plus we are talking about a 17 year old car. Of anything I would be worried about the transmission and how regularly it was serviced. A Transmission rebuild would pretty much scrap this car and with this mileage it is certainly getting closer to needing one.

It’s not a bad car, but with that many miles you may be headed for a lot of upkeep and when the car hits 200,000 miles you may see all those non-problems come to the surface.

Sounds like it could be a winner. I have a 1990 Camry with 250K and it runs like a charm!
Don’t let the mileage fool you, these cars can go to 400K easily with good maintence.

It’s not the number of miles you should be concerned with. I inspect vehicles for a living and found it’s how previous owners take care of the vehicle, i.e. maintenance schedules, cleaning the interior and exterior. I would perform a Carfax in addition to another vehicle history report. The seller should supply these records for you.

car’c good the only problem is it has travelled a lot 193000miles!
do 1 thing to get best price!
go to workshop and ask 4 the estimate of a new engine!
talk to that about ur new customer and u know all!

I wouldn’t pay 2 G’s for a car that has 200K miles on it. But if you’re really interested I would find a good mechanic and have them look the car over. Always a good rule of thumb when buying used cars.
Also would recommend thoroughly test driving. If they don’t let you do that then it’s not worth it.
Last but not least check the value of the car at Kelly Blue Book

actually for a 90 it has good mileage…it is around 11,000 miles a year….I have a 94 Honda that will have 200,000 miles in less then 1,000 miles….
2 things I would suggest
1 is that you get a carfax to be sure nothing major has happened to the car….
2 have the car checked out by a mechanic…

I’d check all the mechanical work receipts to see if the transmission has had any major work. If there is no record of it, I’d ASK! If they tell you it has not had any work done on the transmission I’d walk away because with that many miles on it you’re looking at a problem waiting to happen soon.
Other than that, it sounds pretty good. If you’re comfortable getting under the thing with a flashlight, you should check the underside for rust, or have somebody do it for you.
Good luck.

It has too many miles. Above 135000 miles for a car is where things start getting sketchy. You can do better. Check craigslist. I got my toyota camry 1993 for 1500 and it only had 110,000 miles on it.

Well, it’s pretty old. And mileage is pretty high, but its a JAM so it will last a long time.
1900 is decent, but i would go for 1000 or so. Ask for a haggle if its a private seller.
go for it

if you like it and its clean thats not bad. isell cars if i were takin it in trade i would offer 200 dollars out on the road it worth 1000 maybe because of high mile 1900 it high look around you might find a better car down the road

I do work for dealerships. One I service has a Maxima on their lot, 1/2 the miles of yours, but asking $9500. So there is a HUGE difference in price.

Being that it runs, just runs alone, its worth $1500. Miles are high, but are they freeway miles? That isn’t as hard on the car as local, in town miles. Figure the car could last another 50,000 if taken care of. And for $1900, its a STEAL!
If it all works, runs, looks good, sounds good, some new parts, tires are good start, and it goes down the road and isnt’ a stolen car, $1900 is a total steal. Even w/ those miles, if it was on a dealerships lot, they’d be asking at least $2995 if not more $3995.
