Ideas for making some kind of homemade blind for a disabled hunter with knee probs?
I became disabled a few years ago and it’s giving me fits that I can’t just sit down on the ground to turkey hunt like I used to. I have a permit allowing me to hunt from a stationary vehicle but I’ve tried hunting from my truck and that sucks because of not much range plus what turkey in it’s right mind is gonna think there’s a hen in the front seat of my truck…lol….I thought about the camo netting thing to cover the truck but that turned out to be alot more work than it should be. Any ideas would sure be appreciated……but keep the smart ass answers to yourself please. It’s not like I can just up and lose this disability.

I have a friend who hunts on his land (lots of acreage) and has a horse trailer set up as a permanent blind. He has it all camoed out and everything, and has told me the percussion isn’t as bad as he had initially thought. Maybe you could go that route if at all possible, or maybe something like it. Sounds like you need a simple, ground-level box blind built from treated plywood. Something to keep the rain, wind and cold out and give you cover. Camo netting or paint should work for that.
If you can mount it on a trailer you can move it around, but I would set it up stationary in a good location. One year I built a temporary ground blind using square hay bales and tree branches. I’m more of a ground hunter, anyway.

A friend of mine like to hunt and like you he is disabled.We found that he could maneuver his electric chair around fairly easy in he woods by himself.We tried using different kinds of blinds but everything we tried was to bulky or couldn’t be moved easily by him.What we finally found to work best was a couple of 6′x8′ camo cloth sheets and some old fiberglass tent poles.We used the poles to make a square around him and then used simple shower hooks to hang the camo over it. This was simple enough that he could take it with him and store the poles on a rack we made for his electric chair.We used 8 poles that were 5 feet long.To connect the pieces together we used four tennis balls painted green.The tennis balls had holes poked in them so all he had to do was stick the poles into the balls then stick the poles into the ground.Hang the camo and you have a simple yet fast and easy to carry blind.This works great for him because he likes to move around.He is limited to where he can go in the woods but around fields and fire breaks it does the trick.

Ameristep makes portable blinds that set up in a few seconds for 70-150 dollars – invest in one of them and a good seat and you can go almost anywhere

I have heard of hunters hollowing out haybales to sit in for blinds( the big circular ones, not the square ones). I have never done it, but i dont see why it wouldnt work for deer, but turkey might be different, they are smarter and more reluctant to come around.
you can build a make shift blind with burlap material adn use foliage from the area to help camo it up. when doing this you should set it up around a chair and visibility from the chair,
or
you can buy a ground blind from walmart or any outdoors store and place a chair in that. This is what I have and works really well. I use it for deer and turkey hunting.
