As the camera doesn't have to be seen directly by you , as the mirror would, you have options on instalation point. I know it's hard and you feel like you have to have your eye on them every second. As you said yourself, they don't always stay put and if you are in a crash they can fly right off of those head rests and what do you think they will hit? Your baby. Trust me when I say your baby is fine when he/she is in the car seat as long as it is properly installed, he/she is sitting and strapped in the seat properly, and you don't have anything in your baby's face. If you get worried about your baby while you are in the car then pull over and check on him or her. I got it at walmart and it was only like $5. Super cheap and it works great. I hope that this helps.
